We designed a traditional kitchen with warm finishes that invited the cook and her guests into the space. The paneling for the walls was repeated on the support column for added effect.
The built in microwave is recessed instead of in a standard tall column. It's more interesting and still practical to use. We used 3" quarter columns below to frame the sides of the oven and the range. Classic pilasters frame the microwave for contrast.
Here's a close up view that shows more of the design detail we used on the open dish storage cabinet.
Another view of the cooking area that shows how we placed the different appliances and still kept them from overwhelming the space.
